Little Life Update

Hey there! I thought I'd hop on and share a bit about who I am and what I do!

I am a designer, photographer, and mother. I am a lover of dogs, travel, the beach, the mountains, and a good time. I love a good yarn just as much as I love to sit at home in silence with a cup of coffee. If I tell you I read something, I probably mean I listened to it (I’m a huge podcast and audiobook fan). You will often find me hanging out with friends and family, walking my dog, or watching reality TV, but in the summer, I like to be at the beach or in a body of water as much as possible. I absolutely love my job, and I love being able to work and connect with such amazing people!

For anyone who is new here, I have written a very brief history of how Sarah-Jane Creative came to be (see below). So, grab a coffee or a wine and give it a read, or don’t; you can just look at the photos if that’s more your vibe.

My name's Sarah-Jane, and I've been navigating the world of design and photography for 9 years now. I graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Communication Design at the end of 2014 and dove headfirst into the design world, dreaming of working for a big agency.

I did land a job at an agency, but after a few months, I realised it wasn't meant to be. Cue the early-life crisis! I even considered becoming a flight attendant. But then I decided to give design one more shot, and guess what? It totally worked out!

I then went on to work multiple part-time design jobs while starting up my own freelance business (this business!). While working for MediaWorks Canterbury, I was very fortunate to be introduced to my future business partner, Rachel. In 2016, we joined forces to create a social media agency called The Social Project. We ran The Social Project together for five years and had some amazing clients and employees. Then in 2021, we both decided to move on from social media and focus on our own ventures. My venture was this one, and Rachel is now the owner of an incredible recruitment agency called FRAME Recruitment!

Some other big things happened around that time too. In 2020, I married my now-husband, who I have been with for 13 years. Then in 2021, we welcomed our first daughter, Teddy, into the world (though our firstborn was our Cocker Spaniel, Cookie). Since Teddy was born, I have been navigating the world of being a mum and running a business. But as if life wasn’t busy enough, in 2023, we welcomed our second daughter, Lunar, into the world!

Now that both girls are a little older and enjoying pre-school part-time, I’m excited to really jump back into this little business that I love so much!
